1. General
1.1.
By registering on UEG Website or any other online platform of UEG (hereinafter "Website") and the confirmation thereof, the person, corporation or institution using the Website (hereinafter "User") and the United European Gastroenterology GmbH (hereinafter "UEG") enter into an Agreement regarding the use of the Website and the application of its services.
1.2.
This Agreement is based on the following General Terms and Conditions (hereinafter "Terms") which are applicable to:
- All sales and agreements between UEG and the User;
- All contracts concluded or made on the Website;
- Each and every transaction concluded or entered into between UEG and the User.
2. Information
2.1.
All of the information on the Website has been carefully compiled. It cannot be entirely ruled out, however, that information contained on the Website is incorrect, incomplete or outdated. UEG and its partners shall not be held responsible or liable in such cases.
2.2.
Furthermore, UEG shall not be held responsible or liable for information and prices placed on its Website by third parties, such as tariffs, information and/or results of transactions that have been made due to such information.
3. Conclusion of Contract
3.1.
UEG’s prices as stated on the Website are non-binding offers. By clicking the "Pay/Buy Now" button the User makes an offer subject to this agreement as a purchaser which upon UEG’s Acceptance becomes legally binding upon the User and UEG (§ 864 Austrian Civil Code - ABGB). No contract shall be deemed to exist until the moment of acceptance as defined by the present Terms or the contract itself.
3.2.
Online access to the Website content to be paid for by the User will be granted after receipt of payment by UEG. In the case of technical malfunction, however, which falls under the category of circumstances beyond UEG’s control, online access will be granted as soon as possible under the circumstances. UEG will keep the User duly informed of the status of access to the Website content.
3.3.
UEG cannot be held liable in case of delay or malfunction or disruption in displaying the content on the Website, unless UEG acts in gross negligence or wilfully.
4. Prices and Payment
All prices indicated on the Website are in Euro. Users are able to make payments electronically to UEG by MasterCard (incl. MasterCard Secure Code), VISA (incl. Verified by VISA), Amex and Diners Club. Any transaction fees will be added to the invoice of the User. If payments are made via bank transfer, any bank charges will be charged to the payer.
5. Obligation to Provide Truthful and Current Information
5.1.
The User is obliged to state truthfully all requested information in the registration process and in any subsequent data request. The User is obliged to update his profile, e.g. name, address, e-mail address, phone or fax number, bank account information, or other data requested in the registration process, in case any of the information requested changes.
5.2.
To the extent the User has provided incorrect or incomplete information in the course of the registration process, UEG is entitled to cancel any order, irrespective of whether or not a contract has been concluded.
5.3.
UEG will immediately send a confirmation of receipt to the e-mail address provided by the User.
5.4.
The User is obliged to inform UEG by sending an e-mail to if the above mentioned e-mail was not received immediately after placing the order.
5.5.
It is the duty of the User to ensure that the e-mail address provided by him is active and can be accessed by him.
6. Online Content
This part of the General Terms and Conditions herein defines the conditions and procedures under which the online content and services (hereinafter "Online Content") offered on ueg.eu are made available to the user (hereinafter “User”). This part of the General Terms and Conditions apply when you access Online Content on UEG websites (hereinafter “UEG Websites"), offered by United European Gastroenterology GmbH, Wickenburggasse 1, 1080 Vienna, Austria, email: (hereinafter “UEG”) free of charge.
By accessing the Online Content, you confirm that you have read, accepted and agreed to be bound in any respect by these terms and conditions and all applicable laws.
The confirmation thereof forms a contract between the User and UEG regarding access to the Online Content.

UEG reserves the right to modify the programme at any time and in any manner.
Unless otherwise specified, all Online Content is offered in English.
Access to Online Content is given electronically only on the UEG Websites or an external webinar platform (both herein referred to "UEG Websites").
UEG is regularly seeking approval from the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS), UEG is providing a certificate of attendance and CME points when indicated in the respective product description.
6.2. General regulations
Registration to myUEG (an active myUEG Associate account) is required to have access to all offered Online Content. Access without full name and email address cannot be processed.
This access is strictly personal and no access to your myUEG account must be provided to any other individual or corporation.
To be eligible to access Online Content, User must be at least 18 years old. User may be asked to provide an official identity card stating their age. Registration as myUEG Associate and therefore access to UEG Online Content is restricted to certified healthcare professionals only (Medical Doctors, Researcher, Retiree, Allied Health Professionals, Nurses and Undergraduate Students) (“Eligible User”). By registering, you confirm that you are an Eligible User.
The User chooses the Online Content offered by UEG. The User acknowledges that they are aware of the nature, the purpose, and the characteristics of the Online Content, and that they have been provided the information necessary to access Online Content with full knowledge thereof.
The User is solely responsible for the selection of Online Content, as well as for their appropriateness to their needs, such that UEG may not be held liable in this regard.
6.3. Warranty for Information
UEG does not warrant the completeness, accuracy and actuality of the information conveyed within the Online Content, in particular but not limited to medical information. UEG cannot be held liable for any damages resulting from Online Content, in particular for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect). The recommendation in the Online Content does not constitute any medical advice and cannot replace or substitute independent and complete analysis, evaluation, diagnosis, risk assessment, treatment or other medical activities by a medical specialist.
UEG does not warrant that the UEG Websites will operate in an uninterrupted or error-free manner and that the said websites are free of viruses or other harmful components. UEG is not responsible for any damage or loss of data that may result thereof at any time.
6.4. Exclusion of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, UEG, and its Board of Officers, Executive Committee Members and employees shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect or consequential damages of any kind, loss of profits and/or loss of data arising from and in connection with the access and the consumption of the Online Content. The User shall access the Online Content at their own risk.
Oral agreements shall not be binding if these have not been confirmed in writing by UEG.
UEG is not involved in the activities carried out by the User on UEG Websites and is not in any way liable for any decisions made by the User such as advice, assessment, recommendations, appraisals, reviews, feedback(s), or any consideration, or services provided by the User based on the information or documents or any tool in any form, shown and/or available on UEG Websites.
Publication of works or material or any type of communications by the User, as well as your participation in discussion forums is strictly voluntary and are your entire and sole responsibility. You agree to hold UEG harmless from any action, prosecution, and damage claims, including, but not limited to, infringement or defamation, arising from or related to your online conduct or the material that you transmit to or make available on UEG Websites.
As a User, you agree to share your personal information during a live online event such as your first name, last name and/or occupation with the other User (such as in the Q&A field).
Neither UEG nor its officers, staff and volunteers accept any responsibility for the content of the information or postings on UEG Websites. The content of all postings is solely the responsibility of the authors (User). UEG reserves the right to delete, remove or edit any communications at any time, for any reason and within its unfettered discretion, but has no obligation and shall not be held liable to review or remove any such content. In the event that any posting of inappropriate or illegal content is brought to UEG's attention, UEG may take appropriate action, such as deletion of such content from UEG Websites. You acknowledge, consent and agree that UEG may access, safe, store and disclose your account information and content available on your account if required to do so by law or if UEG in a good faith believes that any of the foregoing is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal requirements; (b) enforce the registration agreement; (c) respond to and defend claims that any content violates the rights of third parties; (d) respond to your requests for customer service; (e) protect the rights, property or personal safety of UEG, its officers, directors, employers, agents, other users or the public.
6.5. Copyrights
UEG and/or the speakers do not assign, transfer or license to you any copyright in connection with the Online Content. The speaker warrants towards UEG that the content presented or published does not infringe any rights of third parties, in particular that no copyrights or personal and privacy rights of third parties are infringed and that all data protection provisions are adhered to.
The User hereby acknowledges that it is prohibited to publicly share recordings of the scientific content footage available on UEG Websites.
The User may watch the information available on the UEG Websites for non-commercial, personal use only. The User must not use, copy, save, distribute, modify, transmit, revise, reverse engineer, republish, post or create derivative works of the Online Content without UEG’s prior written permission. You agree and acknowledge that you do not retain and shall not have any copyrights or other intellectual property rights of any kind on the content available.
All trademarks owned by UEG or any other third party appearing on the Online Content or being made available to you through the services performed, if any, are the property of their respective owners.
Nothing contained in the Online Content shall be construed, neither explicitly nor by implication, estoppel, or otherwise as granting any license or right to use any trademark displayed on UEG Websites, unless the written permission of the owner of the applicable trademark.
By placing materials or information on UEG Websites (access only for registered Users), you grant UEG an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, process, save, modify and transmit such material and information for any purpose permitted by the laws applicable. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you waive, release and agree not to assert any rights that you may have in connection with any content shared or posted by you on UEG Websites. You further agree and authorize UEG and its affiliates and licensees to print, publish, reproduce, broadcast, and disseminate in any form or media, without any compensation payable to you, your name, likeness and content, and any such permission shall not be revoked for any reason.
6.6. Photography & videos for event documentation and public reporting
If you post or make available photos or videos on social media in relation to activities organised by UEG in connection with this Online Content, you do this on your own risk and UEG shall not be held liable in this respect. You hereby give your consent that UEG may use such photos and videos for further marketing purposes for free. You may withdraw you consent anytime in writing.
6.7. Data Privacy Statement
The information collected during this process is necessary to handle the Online Content access and to provide you with an optimal user experience.
Your online activity will be tracked and collected by UEG. The so collected data will be used for reporting and statistical purposes; to assist in enhancing your experience; to inform you about UEG activities in a coherent and adequate manner and provide you with personalised suggestions and recommendations of pertinent content for you to visit.

6.8. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
These General Terms and Conditions shall be subject to Austrian law with no recourse to its conflict of law rules and the ROME-I-Regulation. In the event of any legal claims arising from either party, the courts in Vienna, Austria shall have the exclusive jurisdiction.
7. UEG Week 2024 and Postgraduate Teaching 2024
UEG organises UEG Week on a recurring basis. UEG Week is a congress for gastroenterology researchers which features the latest advances in clinical management, the best research in GI and liver disease and includes several different kinds of symposia and fora, where cutting edge gastroenterology and hepatology is being discussed.
This part of the General Terms and Conditions apply when you register for UEG Week 2024 from October 12 - 15, 2024 (hereinafter "UEG Week 2024") and/or for Postgraduate Teaching 2024 from October 12 - 13, 2024 (hereinafter "PGT 2024") - both held with in-person and/or virtual attendance, organised and performed by United European Gastroenterology GmbH, Wickenburggasse 1, 1080 Vienna, Austria, email: (hereinafter “UEG”). UEG has commissioned Mondial GmbH & Co KG/ Mondial Congress & Events with the handling of the registration for UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024. The confirmation thereof forms a contract between the registrant (hereinafter “Registrant”) and UEG regarding attendance at UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024. By registering, you confirm that you have read, accepted and agreed to be bound in any respect by these terms and conditions and all applicable laws.
7.1. Programme
UEG Week 2024
The goal of UEG Week 2024 is to offer a high-quality congress including all aspects of digestive health, ranging from basic science to clinical guidelines. A world-class faculty presents newest research as well as state-of-the art clinical practice. The programme of UEG Week 2024 will be published on UEG’s website. UEG reserves the right to modify the program at any time and in any manner.
Unless otherwise specified, all lectures are held in English.

PGT 2024
The goal of PGT 2024 is to provide profound updates on the latest developments in GI and hepatology topics in a dynamic, two-day educational experience for gastroenterologists in training and in practice. The programme of PGT 2024 will be published on UEG’s website. UEG reserves the right to modify the programme at any time.
Unless otherwise specified, all lectures are held in English.
UEG is currently seeking approval from the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME), an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS). Certificate of attendance and CME can only be obtained if participating in the live event days (in-person/virtual), October 12 -13, 2024.
7.2. Online Registration
Attendance of UEG Week 2024 is subject to a registration fee. For the PGT 2024 (Saturday-Sunday), a separate registration fee will be charged in addition to the UEG Week 2024 congress fee. Furthermore, different registration fees for in-person or virtual attendance of UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 are charged and published on UEG’s website. All registration fees are inclusive of VAT rates if applicable.
Registration and booking of services are binding for the Registrant. The fees must be paid in advance on the dates specified. The day of payment is decisive for the registration fee.
By paying the virtual registration fee for UEG Week and/or PGT 2024, access to the congress platform is possible from and including October 10, 2024, 14:00 CEST until and including November 11, 2024, 23:59 CET. With a virtual registration no access is granted to the local congress venue for in-person attendance.
In-person registration fees include access to the local congress venue as well as access to the congress platform.
Included services are listed on the website and access to certain industry areas (at the venue and on the congress platform) might be restricted due to regulations for advertising of pharmaceutical products to non-healthcare-professionals or non-prescribers.
To be eligible to register for UEG Week 2024 and PGT 2024, Registrants must be at least 18 years old. Registrants may be asked to provide an official identity card stating their age.
Registration is only allowed for certified healthcare professionals, associated press, industry representatives and other stakeholders in the science, management and prevention of gastroenterological disease (“Eligible Registrant”). By registering, you confirm that you are an Eligible Registrant.
Payment of the registration fee is required at the time of registration by credit card ( Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Diners, Maestro, Apple/Google Pay, Discover and JCB) in EUR. Your payment will be processed via PayOne GmbH through a secure server protocol, which encrypts all your personal and credit card details. Further information on data protection can be found on the PayOne GmbH website at https://www.payone.com.
UEG will inform you of your successful registration by sending you a confirmation and an invoice/payment confirmation by email. The agreement on the attendance of UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 is concluded upon receipt of that email.
Name changes can be made at costs of € 40 (including VAT) – for UEG Week 2024 and PGT 2024 until October 9, 2024. This amount has to be settled immediately.
In case of double registrations, which may occur in particular if a person registered through group & individually it is not UEG’s obligation to identify and determine such double registrations and to respectively notify the affected Registrant/group coordinator. A refund for one of the two registrations is only permissible, if such refund is requested via email to by October 3, 2024 (for UEG Week 2024 and PGT 2024).
Registrants who are presenters of abstracts at the UEG Week 2024 shall also register and pay the registration fee in order to participate in UEG Week 2024. Registrants may submit abstracts being eligible for poster presentations or oral presentations. The acceptance of an abstract simultaneously results in a binding registration of the presenter to attend the conference and triggers such presenter’s obligation to pay the registration fee. The registration fee must be paid before UEG Week 2024 takes place. If the presenter withdraws an abstract after its acceptance by the Scientific Committee, but before the registration fee has been paid, no registration is required any more. If the registration fee has already been paid before the presenter withdraws an abstract accepted by the Scientific Committee, they shall not be entitled to a refund of the registration fee.
After online registration, you will receive access to UEG Week 2024 platform via your myUEG account. This access is strictly personal and no access to your myUEG account must be provided to any other individual or corporation.
7.3. In-person attendance
If you are not allowed to enter Austria or get access to the UEG Week 2024/PGT 2024 congress venue due to not having complied with applicable law and UEG’s policy, you shall not have any claim to any refund of registration fee already paid.
In the case of loss, a replacement badge will be provided against full payment of the applicable in-person registration fee. Forgotten badges will be replaced against a deposit of € 100. The congress badge shall be for individual use by the person stated on the badge and must not be assigned to any third person.
7.4. Withdrawal
Please note that the consumer’s right of withdrawal from the contract under the Austrian Distance and Foreign Trade Act (Fern- und Auswärtsgeschäftegesetz, “FAGG”) is not applicable to the purchase of this registration ticket.
7.5. Cancellation
Further, UEG offers you the right to cancel your registration at UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 at your discretion at the latest by Thursday, August 1, 2024. In case of a timely cancellation, UEG will refund the full registration fee minus a processing fee of 20%. No refund will be granted if the registration is cancelled after that date. Any cancellation shall be made in writing to .
If you do not cancel your registration in accordance with the above, UEG shall not make any refund of registration fees even if you do not attend UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024. All delegates are recommended to take personal travel and cancellation insurance.
7.6. Force Majeure
In the event of total or partial cancellation of UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 due to Force Majeure (meaning any reason beyond UEG’s control) such as fire, strike, natural disaster, pandemic/epidemic, communicable disease, government regulations, including but not limited to curfew, lock down, travel restrictions or similar, which would prevent its scheduled opening or continuance, the contractual relationship between you and UEG will be terminated immediately. UEG shall not have to refund any registration fee already paid or pay any damages you may or may have incurred.
In the event of Force Majeure, UEG at its unfettered discretion is entitled to switch to a fully virtual meeting format. In such event all in-person registrations for UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 shall be automatically transferred into virtual registrations. The fee difference between in-person registration and virtual registration will be refunded to you within 4 weeks after the end of UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024.
Furthermore, no refunds will be granted in case of modification of the programme, cancellation of speakers or any other incident of similar consequence during UEG Week 2024 and/or during PGT 2024.
7.7. Changes of registration type
- Change of virtual registration to in-person registration
UEG offers you the right to change your registration from virtual to in-person registration at your discretion until beginning of UEG Week or PGT 2024. In such case, you will be charged a processing fee of € 80 (including VAT). As fees for in-person registrations are higher than for virtual registrations, you must pay the difference as a surcharge. The processing fee as well as the surcharge shall be paid promptly to us - Change of in-person registration to virtual registration
UEG offers you the right to change your registration from in-person to virtual registration at your discretion until Wednesday, September 11, 2024. In such case, you will be charged a processing fee of € 80 (including VAT). As fees for virtual registrations are lower than fees for in-person registrations, UEG will refund you the difference minus the processing fee.
If the registration type is changed later than Wednesday, September 11, 2024, no refund will be granted to you. - Change of regular fee to reduced fee registration (in-person or virtual)
Certain groups of registrants are eligible for reduced rates. For reduced rates registrants have to fulfill the published conditions and requirements available on the UEG Week attendance page.
The unfettered discretion to accept a pre-condition for a reduced fee lies solely with UEG.
UEG offers you the right to change your registration from a regular fee to a reduced fee registration (in-person or virtual) at your discretion until Wednesday, September 11, 2024. In such case, you will be charged a processing fee of € 80 (including VAT) and a refund for the difference is made.
If the registration type is changed later than Wednesday, September 11, 2024, no refund will be granted to you.
If you wish to change the registration type as set out above, you must send a written change request by e-mail to within the deadlines as set out above.
7.8. Warranty for Information

UEG does not warrant that the congress platform will operate in an uninterrupted or error-free manner and that the said platform is free of viruses or other harmful components. UEG is not responsible for any damage or loss of data that may result thereof at any time.

7.9. Exclusion of Liability
Mondial Congress shall act as a mediator only and cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage incurred or any damage inflicted on persons or objects irrespective of whatsoever by the above. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, UEG, and its Board of Officers, Executive Committee Members and employees shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect or consequential damages of any kind, loss of profits and/or loss of data arising from and in connection with your participation in UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024.
Oral agreements shall not be binding if these have not been confirmed in writing by UEG.
UEG will not be liable for any theft or damage to property and/or persons caused on site during the on-site event days, by any factor whatever, unless there has been a fault, intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of UEG. Furthermore, UEG shall not be held responsible in the event of poisoning or food intoxication during the event.
The Registrant shall take part in UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 at his/her own risk and is responsible for and is urged to take their own personal health, travel and cancellation insurance.
UEG is not involved in the activities carried out by the Registrant on the congress platform, and is not in any way liable for any decisions made by the Registrant such as advice, assessment, recommendations, appraisals, reviews, feedback(s), or any consideration, or services provided by the Registrant based on the information or documents or any tool in any form, shown and/or available during UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024.
Publication of works or material or any type of communications by the Registrant, as well as your participation in discussion forums is strictly voluntary and are your entire and sole responsibility. You agree to hold UEG harmless from any action, prosecution, and damage claims, including, but not limited to, infringement or defamation, arising from or related to your online conduct or the material that you transmit to or make available on the congress platform.

If, as Registrant, you wish to use the “My Connect” tool you need to be opted-in to UEG My Connect and to have agreed to the “Terms & Conditions” and “Privacy Policy” of the UEG website.
Neither UEG nor its officers, staff and volunteers accept any responsibility for the content of the information or postings on the congress platform. The content of all postings is solely the responsibility of the authors (Registrant). UEG reserves the right to delete, remove or edit any communications at any time, for any reason and within its unfettered discretion, but has no obligation and shall not be held liable to review or remove any such content. In the event that any posting of inappropriate or illegal content is brought to UEG's attention, UEG may take appropriate action, such as deletion of such content from the congress platform. In the event of use in an illegal or fraudulent manner, UEG may terminate or restrict Registrant’s access to UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024.You acknowledge, consent and agree that UEG may access, safe, store and disclose your account information and content available on your account if required to do so by law or if UEG in a good faith believes that any of the foregoing is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal requirements; (b) enforce the registration agreement; (c) respond to and defend claims that any content violates the rights of third parties; (d) respond to your requests for customer service; (e) protect the rights, property or personal safety of UEG, its officers, directors, employers, agents, other users or the public.
7.10. Copyrights
UEG and/or the speakers do not assign, transfer or license to you any copyright in connection with UEG Week 2024 or PGT 2024. The speaker warrants towards UEG that the content presented or published does not infringe any rights of third parties, in particular that no copyrights or personal and privacy rights of third parties are infringed and that all data protection provisions are adhered to.
The Registrant hereby acknowledges that it is prohibited to publicly share recordings of the scientific content footage available on the congress platform.
The Registrant may watch the information provided by UEG for non-commercial, personal use only. The Registrant must not use, copy, save, distribute, modify, transmit, revise, reverse engineer, republish, post or create derivative works of the content of UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 without UEG’s prior written permission. You agree and acknowledge that you do not retain and shall not have any copyrights or other intellectual property rights of any kind on the content available on the congress platform.
All trademarks owned by UEG or any other third party appearing on the congress platform or being made available to you through the services performed on the congress platform, if any, are the property of their respective owners.
Nothing contained on the congress platform shall be construed, neither explicitly nor by implication, estoppel, or otherwise as granting any license or right to use any trademark displayed on the congress platform, unless the written permission of the owner of the applicable trademark.
By placing materials or information on the publicly available part (access only for registered delegates) of the congress platform, you grant UEG an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, process, save, modify and transmit such material and information for any purpose permitted by the laws applicable. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you waive, release and agree not to assert any rights that you may have in connection with any content shared or posted by you on the congress platform. You further agree and authorize UEG and its affiliates and licensees to print, publish, reproduce, broadcast, and disseminate in any form or media, without any compensation payable to you, your name, likeness and content, and any such permission shall not be revoked for any reason.
7.11. Photography & videos for event documentation and public reporting
Please note that we will be taking photos and might record audio and video footage of UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024. We have no intention to photograph you directly without your explicit consent, but we cannot exclude the possibility that you will be pictured in these photos. By participating in UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024, you acknowledge that we have the right to use these photos or footage for marketing purposes for free.
If you post or make available photos or videos on social media in relation to activities organised by UEG in connection with UEG Week 2024 or PGT 2024 you do this on your own risk and UEG shall not be held liable in this respect. You hereby give your consent that UEG may use such photos and videos for further marketing purposes for free. You may withdraw your consent anytime in writing.
7.12. Data Privacy Statement
The information collected during this registration process is necessary to provide you with an optimal user experience and networking opportunities during UEG Week 2024 and/or during PGT 2024.
During UEG Week 2024 and/or PGT 2024 your online activity will be tracked and collected by UEG. The so collected data will be used for reporting and statistical purposes; to assist in enhancing your experience; to inform you about UEG activities in a coherent and adequate manner and provide you with personalised suggestions and recommendations of pertinent content for you to visit.
The recipients of the data are UEG staff and suppliers.
Additionally, in case you visit an exhibition booth stand or attend an Industry Symposium you may be asked to give your consent – by scanning your badge or by giving your consent on the congress platform - that your personal data (to the extent provided), comprising full name, country, affiliation (institute/company, department) and email address is being passed on to the respective (scanning) UEG sponsor/exhibitor (also listed on the website ueg.eu) for the purpose of providing marketing and information material relating to the field of digestive health as well as information on scientific events from the respective sponsor/exhibitor.
You are entitled to withdraw your consent to this data processing procedure at any time by sending a corresponding email to . The rightfulness of this data processing is based on your consent. We and the sponsors/exhibitor will process the above-mentioned personal data until you withdraw your consent. You are not obliged to have your badge scanned or to give this consent.
If you do not have your badge scanned or you don’t give your consent on the congress platform, you will not have any further disadvantages. Further information can be found in our privacy policy.
7.13. Applicable law and place of jurisdiction
These General Terms and Conditions shall be subject to Austrian law with no recourse to its conflict of law rules and the ROME-I-Regulation. In the event of any legal claims arising from either party, the courts in Vienna, Austria shall have the exclusive jurisdiction.
8. Disclosure Policy
8.1.
UEG is committed to ensuring scientific rigour and objectivity in all of its educational activities. These include all aspects of the educational programme at UEG Week including those that are directly and jointly sponsored activities.
8.2.
All presenters, whether invited faculty (speaker, chair and expert) and abstract (oral or poster) presenters at the UEG Week (hereinafter “Presenter(s)”) are required to disclose to those organising and attending meetings any relevant financial or other relationship that may lead to a potential bias. UEG reserves the right to review the information disclosed for potential conflicts of interest. Please note that the sole responsibility for the content of each presentation lies with the Presenter.
8.3.
The UEG Scientific Committee requires all Presenters to disclose any financial relationship with or any advisory or consultancy roles in the Biomedical Industry and the Biomedical Technology Industry during the past two years. These and any other potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed during introductory comments to the presentation. All Presenters are requested to disclose potential conflicts of interest on a PowerPoint slide to be shown immediately at the beginning of the presentation. Poster Presenters are required to disclose potential conflicts of interest at the bottom of their poster.
8.4.
Conflicts of interest may exist through a financial relationship or when the individual has the opportunity to influence the content of a presentation, and can involve grants, honoraria, shares, paid positions on advisory boards, etc. Conflicts of interest are frequent and expected, and do not preclude an individual from making a presentation, provided the conflict is disclosed. If there is any doubt about the relevance of a potential conflict of interest, UEG requires all Presenters to act responsibly and to disclose such potential conflict of interest.
9. Licence to UEG for Publication of Abstracts
9.1.
UEG GmbH (hereinafter “Publisher”) is granted an exclusive licence by all authors of abstracts (hereinafter “Author”) submitted for publication.
9.2.
If the Abstract is not published by the Publisher within 12 months of the Publishers’ acceptance of the abstract (or as otherwise agreed), this agreement shall automatically terminate and all rights shall revert to the copyright owner(s).
9.3.
In consideration for the Publisher agreeing to publish the abstract, the Author hereby grants an exclusive licence to the Publisher entitling the Publisher subject to the Author´s rights set forth in clause 10:
- to publish the abstract in the UEG Journal, in any printed or electronic supplement to the UEG Journal, in books, as a standalone reprint or any other publication or means worldwide;
- to publish the abstract in any media currently known (e.g. electronic journal archive / library / depository both online/Internet and offline/CD-DVD, as well as electronic stand-alone product), or created in the future;
- and to create derivative works and to exploit all subsidiary rights, and sublicense such rights.
If the copyright is held by the employer of the Author, the Author’s express written consent to grant the Publisher exclusive licence must have already been obtained from the employer.
Neither a fee nor any other compensation shall be paid by the Publisher for the licence granted herein.
9.4.
The Author(s) warrant(s) to be the sole Author(s) of the abstract submitted and that it is an original work and has not been previously published in whole or in a substantial part elsewhere. The Author(s) warrant that they or their employers are the copyright owners of the abstract and are expressly authorised by all relevant parties to grant this licence.
9.5.
The Author warrants that any and all co-author(s) referred to in the abstract submitted have agreed to be mentioned in the abstract and have accepted that their data including their contact details will be transferred to the database of UEG (DMS) and may be published by third parties. The Author is under obligation to submit proof of the approval of the co-authors upon UEG’s request.
9.6.
The Author warrants to the best of his/her knowledge that the abstract does not contain anything which is libellous, illegal or infringes anyone’s copyright or any other rights.
9.7.
The Author acknowledges and accepts that the Publisher may make additional changes to the abstract as considered necessary in accordance with standard editorial processes. Every effort will be made to consult with the Author if substantial alterations are made and the author(s) name(s) will remain on the abstract.
9.8.
The Author agrees that in the event that the Publisher sells the whole or part of its business to any third party, the licence contained herein shall be assigned to that third party.
9.9.
Ownership of copyright remains with the Author (or, if copyright is owned by the Author’s employer, the Author’s employer).
9.10.
The Author shall have the following rights for non-commercial use of the abstract (subject to the proviso that when reproducing the contribution or sections from it, the Author(s) acknowledge that the abstract was first published in the UEG Journal, or a supplement to UEG Journal, and provide a full reference or web link, as appropriate):
- the right to reproduce a reasonable number of copies of the abstract, by photocopying or downloading it from the Publishers’ website, for personal, professional, non-commercial use (commercial use includes selling or renting for a fee the right to access the Abstract) and including for Author’s own teaching purposes.
- the right to post the accepted abstract (but not the final published version) of the article, on the Author‘s own and/or his/her institution’s website 12 months after the first publication date by the Publisher subject to the necessary acknowledgement (see below**). **This Abstract has been accepted for publication by UEG following editing. The definitive copyedited, typeset version is available online at ueg.eu/week/programme, e-learning.ueg.eu or Onlinelibrary as a supplement to the UEG Journal.
- the right to publish with the hereunder agreed acknowledgement all or part of the abstract in a book solely written or edited as editor in chief by the Author. This does not apply to multiple abstracts in the same book, for which permission must be sought.
- the right to publish with the hereunder agreed acknowledgement all or part of the abstract in a book solely written or edited as editor in chief by the Author. This does not apply to multiple abstracts in the same book, for which permission must be sought.
- the right to include abstracts in a compilation for classroom use (course packs) to be distributed free of charge to students at the Author‘s institution or to be stored in digital format in secure data-rooms for access by students as part of their course work and for in-house training programmes of the Author’s employer. This does not apply if any charge is requested for the compilation (other than photocopying costs) or the training programme.
9.11.
The Author authorises the Publisher to take such steps as it considers necessary without further recourse to the Author at its own expense in the Author’s name and on their behalf if it believes that a third party is infringing or is likely to infringe on copyright or the rights granted to UEG hereunder.
9.12.
The Author hereby consents to the inclusion of electronic links from the abstract to third party material wherever it may be located.
10. Permission for Publication
10.1.
Notwithstanding the forgoing, the Author and the Presenter the authors of abstracts (hereinafter “Author”), all presenters, whether invited faculty (speaker, chair and expert) or abstract (oral or poster) presenters (any of the foregoing hereinafter individually and collectively “Presenter”) at the UEG Week, whether held virtually or as physical meeting, additionally grant UEG GmbH (hereinafter “UEG”) for an indefinite period of time, without territorial limitations and without any right to compensation, the right to make the abstract or any other piece of work, demonstration, lecture, (pre-recorded) footage or streaming thereof (hereinafter “Work”) available to the public as well as to all other users, in particular via e-learning portals, the UEG website, any other websites operated by UEG or any of its industry partners, as well as via social media such as for example YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, etc., or any other website related to medical issues. This right on the part of UEG in particular includes the following:
- the right to computerize and save live streams and the Work partially or entirely in electronic databases, electronic data networks, telephone services etc. and to make it available to a large number of users by digital or other storage and transmission technology. In particular, this includes making the Work available to so called e-learning-portals where the Work can be received partially or entirely on individual demand (especially by push and pull services) by television, computer, cell phone and other hardware on all communication channels (cable, wireless, microwave, satellite) and all transmission technologies (GSM, UMTS etc.) as well as all protocols (i.e. TCP/-IP, http, WAP, HTML, XML etc.);
- the right to reproduce and distribute editions of the Work or parts of it that are produced by the use of digital storage- and reproduction media, independent of the technical equipment and enclosing all digital or interactive systems in accordance with the current and future state of technology (such as CD-ROM, CD-I, E-book and other kinds of electronic publishing media, including the production of print copies);
- the right to edit, cut and rearrange parts of the (pre-recorded) footage and/or streaming of the Work;
- the right to archive the Work by itself or within the framework of other Works and forms of utilization in tangible or intangible form. Moreover, the Work may be added to collections and/or databases and may be made available to the public in any form (e.g. online-services);
- the right to make the Work or parts thereof available to industry partners – alone or together with Work from other Presenters or Authors – as a link to be distributed via the industry partner’s channels. The industry partner is of course not allowed to edit, cut and rearrange parts of the (pre-recorded) footage of the Work.
- the right to translate the Work into any other language; UEG will take appropriate measures to ensure that the meaning of the content is not altered.
10.2.
The Author/Presenter explicitly consents that UEG may transfer all contractual rights partially or entirely to a third party implementing these rights.
10.3.
The Author/Presenter shall be responsible for ensuring that the content presented or published by UEG is accurate and complies with the applicable scientific standards. The Author/Presenter warrants that the Work and content presented does not infringe on any rights of third parties, in particular that no copyrights or personal and privacy rights of third parties are infringed on, and that all data protection provisions are adhered to. In case any permissions of third parties must be obtained prior to presenting or publishing the Work or content, the Author/Presenter shall solely be responsible to do so. The Author/Presenter hereby warrants to comply with his/her obligations under these Terms and shall hold harmless and indemnify UEG for any breach thereof.
10.4.
The Work will be archived long-term via DOI-System (Digital Object Identifier) and will be made available to the public. UEG may charge the user with a modest fee to cover its costs.
10.5.
No remuneration or any other compensation shall be paid to the Author/Presenter for the use of the rights granted to UEG in relation to the Work.
10.6.
UEG will name the Author/Presenter of the Work in an appropriate manner.
11. myUEG User
11.1.
An active myUEG Login by providing the following personal data with UEG is required to access UEG’s services as a User (hereinafter ‘myUEG User’): first name, last name, email-address(es), country, gender, year of birth, occupation, expertise, fields of interest, specialist society membership, national society membership.
11.2.
Depending on the occupation, the myUEG User can register as ‘Basic User’, ‘myUEG Associate’ or ‘myUEG Young GI Associate’.
11.3.
Patient Advocacy representatives, Industry representatives, Medical Association representatives, Press and Suppliers are defined as ‘Basic User’ and are excluded from the Associate status.
11.4.
The myUEG Associate or Young GI Associate status (both referred to hereinafter as “Associates”) is exclusively offered to healthcare professionals (Medical Doctors, Researcher, Retiree, Allied Health Professionals, Nurses and Undergraduate Students).
11.5.
Associates are granted exclusive access to selected UEG services as indicated on the website, while “Basic Users” can only register for the UEG Week & PGT as well as submit abstracts. Application criteria and fees may apply for selected services, as indicated on the website.
11.6.
myUEG Associates up to 40 years old, have the option to register as a myUEG Young GI Associate to benefit from additional services as indicated on the website. In order to register as a myUEG Young GI Associate, it is mandatory to opt-in to My Connect (see point 12).
11.7.
The right to purchase a UEG Week & PGT registration and to submit congress abstracts is granted to myUEG Users only, current prices are indicated on the Website.
11.8.
Becoming an Associate with all included benefits is currently free of charge.
11.9.
Be aware that the myUEG User is not becoming an individual member of the UEG non-profit-organisation (according to the Austrian association law). UEG GmbH is offering this myUEG User programme as a customer loyalty and retention programme for everyone interested in consuming UEG commercial activities and receiving free benefits.
11.10.
myUEG User are entitled to deactivate their myUEG User account with all included benefits at any time by sending a corresponding email to .
12. My Connect Platform for Associates
12.1.
With My Connect UEG offers an exclusive and secure networking platform for searching, linking and communicating with international digestive health care professionals. Associates can join this My Connect Platform (hereinafter ‘My Connect’) on a voluntary basis.
12.2.
Associates can search for other health care professionals in the myUEG area that have also opted for My Connect, and can send, receive, accept and decline connection requests and use My Connect to communicate and interact with each other. Furthermore, they can share posts, events and other career related information.
12.3.
By joining My Connect, Associates agree to share the following information with other My Connect users: First Name, Last Name, Location (city, country). In addition, the User is free to share further information on a voluntary basis such as CV, occupation, email-address, telephone numbers, social media profiles, institute, expertise, field of interests, memberships or a short biography.
12.4.
For myUEG Young GI Associates, joining My Connect Platform is mandatory in order to benefit from all the special Young GI Associates offers. If a potential myUEG Young GI Associate declines joining My Connect, the User becomes a regular myUEG Associate (even if the User is below 40 years).
12.5.
UEG does not warrant that My Connect will operate in an uninterrupted or error-free manner and that it is free of viruses or other harmful components. UEG is not responsible for any damage or loss of data that may result thereof at any time.
12.6.
By joining My connect Associates shall use My Connect solely for scientific, professional, networking purposes. Use for promotional/sales purposes and in particular any form of spamming is prohibited. Associates accept that they are only allowed to transmit, extract or compile the personal information of other Associates for personal use only and that they will always act in a respectful and friendly manner and refrain from any form of discrimination, violence, hate speech etc. UEG reserves the right to delete any communications, especially of inappropriate or illegal content. Any information shared or any type of communications with Associates, is strictly voluntary and the Associates’ entire and sole responsibility. The Associates accept that any breach of this code of conduct may result in termination of service by UEG without prior notice.
12.7.
UEG is not involved in the activities carried out by the Associates in the My Connect area, and is not in any way liable for any decisions made by the Associates such as advice, assessment, recommendations, appraisals, reviews, feedback(s), or any consideration, or services provided by the Associates based on the information or documents or any tool in any form, shown and/or available in My Connect.
12.8.
Publication of works or material or any type of communications by the Associates, as well as the Associates’ participation in discussion forums is strictly voluntary and are his/her entire and sole responsibility. The Associate agrees to hold UEG harmless from any action, prosecution, and damage claims, including, but not limited to, infringement or defamation, arising from or related to your online conduct or the material that Associates transmit to or make available in My Connect.
12.9.
Neither UEG nor its officers, staff and volunteers accept any responsibility for the content of the information or postings in My Connect. The content of all postings is solely the responsibility of the authors (Associates). UEG reserves the right to delete, remove or edit any communications at any time, for any reason and within its unfettered discretion, but has no obligation and shall not be held liable to review or remove any such content. In the event that any posting of inappropriate or illegal content is brought to UEG's attention, UEG may take appropriate action, such as deletion of such content from My Connect. The Associates acknowledge, consent and agree that UEG may access, safe, store and disclose your account information and content available on your account if required to do so by law or if UEG in a good faith believes that any of the foregoing is reasonably necessary to: (a) comply with legal requirements; (b) enforce the registration agreement; (c) respond to and defend claims that any content violates the rights of third parties; (d) respond to your requests for customer service; (e) protect the rights, property or personal safety of UEG, its officers, directors, employers, agents, other users or the public.
12.10.
Associates acknowledge that they can opt-out anytime of using My Connect by sending a corresponding email to and that data stored in connection with this service is deleted at the latest after a grace period of 90 days.
13. General Provisions
13.1.
There are no verbal agreements which supplement these Terms.
13.2.
Any and all additions or changes to, modifications of, or other deviations from these Terms must be made in writing signed by both parties in order to be valid. This requirement shall not be deemed to apply to agreements made outside the scope of these Terms.
13.3.
UEG’s principal place of business (Vienna, Austria), shall be deemed the place of performance and of delivery and payment for purposes of any suit or action.
13.4.
The exclusive place of jurisdiction shall be the competent court in Vienna, 1st District, Austria. The binding legal venues for consumers (Section 14 of the Austrian Consumer Protection Act) remain unaffected.
13.5.
These Terms and all legal relations arising in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the substantive law of the Republic of Austria, with the exception of the CISG and Austrian international private law and the Rome-I-Regulation. With regard to Agreements between UEG and the User, which are not related to the professional or commercial activity of the User (agreements with the User as consumer) are concerned, this clause shall be valid only, provided that the consumer is not deprived of compulsory legal consumer protection provided for by the laws of the state in which the consumer resides.
13.6.
The English version of the text displayed on the UEG Website and of these Terms shall prevail.
14. Liability of UEG
UEG is the owner of the Website and the organiser of UEG Week. It is liable within the scope of the laws of Austria. Its liability - regardless of the legal cause - is limited to cases of gross negligence and wilful misconduct.
