Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)

About IBD

Inflammatory bowel disease represents a group of chronic intestinal disorders that cause continued inflammation of the digestive tract. The two most common diseases that fall under the IBD umbrella are Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. They are remitting and relapsing in nature and living with an IBD can have a severe impact on a patient’s life, causing high disability. IBD is often diagnosed at an early age and has increased in prevalence across Europe in recent decades.

Do you want to learn more about the most challenging aspects of living with IBD and the unmet medical needs in IBD management? Read the article by our Rising Star Awardee Joana Torres.
