A subepithelial lesion (SEL) of the gastrointestinal tract is defined as an elevated lesion, mass, or bulge within the lumen that is usually covered by normal-appearing mucosa. They represent a heterogenous group of lesions including non-neoplastic lesions such as ectopic pancreatic tissue and neoplastic lesions such as Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumours (GISTs). Proper management of SELs requires establishing the correct diagnosis as well as determining the malignant potential of the lesion.
This online course covers the most relevant aspects of clinical management of patients with SELs in the upper gastrointestinal tract, and facilitates the implementation of the ESGE and ACG guidelines on this topic in clinical practice. To facilitate the learning process, several questions on real-life patient cases have been included in which learners can bring the acquired knowledge directly into practice.
The course includes comprehensive PPT slides and bespoke video presentations by the lead authors, which were filmed in Leiden in 2024. The estimated time needed to complete the course is 1 hour.
Target audience
This course is suitable for gastroenterologists, surgeons, pathologists, nurses and any other healthcare professionals interested in, or actively involved in clinical management of supepithelial lesions.
